Diary of a Runner: Where have I been?

These past weeks I have been at home recovering from my injury that had previously occurred during the Soweto half marathon in November.

The day after the race I went to my biokineticist where she said I should go to a general practitioner to get X-rays because she did a small examination on my knee to determine what the possible problem could be.

The following day I went to the general practitioner to get X-rays and he was not able to do it so he recommended I go somewhere else to get x-rays and a ultrasound.

Both the ultrasound and x-ray showed nothing which was a bad thing because that meant that it was a cartilage injury to be exact it is a meniscus injury. The thing about cartilage is that it does not heal so would have to strengthen the muscles around the knee even more.

When I showed my biokineticist the results she had a feeling it was what the scans show. She then drew up a program for me that includes doing individual muscles strength training and water training with a two kilometer every second day.

My results are not were I want them to be at the moment which means I will get back into running later than I hoped but I will continuously updating you on any progress or regression from now on.
