This past weekend was eventful for me because I ran my first official race of the year which was the Kudu's 15 kilometre race at the University of Witwatersrand and courageous me decided to go and run the Wits Parkrun 20 minutes after I finished my 15 km race.
My results from this years Kudu's race was an improvement from last years 1 hour 9 minutes. This time round I beat my time by 3 whole minutes and ran 1 hour 6 minutes. This specific race is the most difficult race of the year because it is the most "hilliest" race ever and when you finish with one hill there is always another one straight after and these are not 100 meters hills, these hills average about 700 meters on each hill.
Parkrun straight after a race has its positive and negative effects. The positives are that you get more distance in your legs, you get more parkruns added to your name and you get to meet new people. The only negative is if your are unfit you can get injured. I placed 9th out of 165 other parkrunners and finished in a time of 23 minutes 58 seconds. Its not my best time for parkrun but it was the most fun because I got to run it with my friend Tshepo who I have not run with in 2 years. #SheraazRuns #WeekendRound-up
